FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the RTX 3050 good for gaming in 2026?

Yes, for esports and older games. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 handles Fortnite, Valorant, CS2, Overwatch, Rocket League and Minecraft well at 1080p with high frame rates, which covers what typical gamers actually play. For brand new AAA releases, such as Hellraiser: Revival or Resident Evil Requiem, it is past its best, and you would be running on the lowest settings with heavy upscaling to get a barely playable result. It is a graphics card for competitive and casual gaming rather than the latest releases, and judged on that it still does the job well.

Should I get an RTX 3050 or an RTX 5060?

The RTX 5060, only if you can afford it. It is approximately twice as fast, has newer memory, and supports DLSS 4 with frame generation, which the RTX 3050 cannot use. The RTX 3050 makes sense when the budget just can’t be stretched to upgrade to a RTX 5060, when you only play esports titles or simple cosy games, or when you are upgrading an older machine where the newer card would not fit. CyberPowerPC UK RTX 5060 PCs are a big step up from an RTX 3050. If you are unsure on which graphics card best suits your needs, don’t hesitate to contact our service team for advice.

What games can an RTX 3050 actually run?

Esports and older titles run very well. Valorant, CS2, Fortnite, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, League of Legends and Minecraft should all run smoothly at 1080p with high frame rates, which suits a high refresh monitor. Older single-player games from the last several years will also run well at high settings. Some newer, heavier releases may run, but at the lowest settings with upscaling turned on, and at that point you are not seeing the game at its best. If your library is mostly competitive or indie games, this graphics card is a sensible fit.

What is the difference between the 6GB and 8GB RTX 3050?

The 8GB version has more processing cores and a wider memory connection, so it is meaningfully faster as well as having more headroom for textures. The 6GB version is a cut-down card, but it has one real advantage: it draws only 70W and needs no power cable from the power supply, which makes it far easier to fit in older or smaller machines. If you are buying purely for performance, choose the 8GB. If you are upgrading a prebuilt with a modest power supply, the 6GB is the one that will actually fit.

Is an RTX 3050 worth buying new?

It depends what you are buying. Bought on its own at full price, the RTX 3050 is of poor value against newer cards, and reviewers tend to openly say this. Bought as part of a complete system, the maths is different, as you are getting a machine that is assembled, tested and covered by one warranty, at a price a newer card could not reach. Second-hand cards are cheaper again, but come with no warranty and no way to know how they were treated. If your budget is the deciding factor as to which PC you get, our gaming PCs start here for a reason.
